The Book
I think the book does a good job of preparing us for the standards and subject matter on the ISLLC licensure exam. I know some of our classmates are farther along than others in the program, and may have already taken the exam or test prepreparation course, and I wanted to know your thoughts on how the book does in preparing us for the exam.
Policy Assignment
I found some interesting "policies" in my school district regarding the use of electronic devices allowed to be used by students, i.e, they are not allowed to be used in school. However, many teachers in my school allow students to use IPod's, MP3 players, take pictures with their cell phones, and to use the cell phone as long as the student has finished their work. I was wondering what your thoughts are on this issue and if you see similar activities in your building.
Standards Assignment
When I looked up the requirements in my district to meet the TSIP standards, I was surprised at how many standards there were, and the tasks that were needed in order to meet the requirements. Did any of you have similar experiences, or was it about what you'd expect? Are any of you in the process of trying to meet those requirements and TSIP standards now and what are you required to do?

ISLLC Standard 3
Understanding the network of resources that exist at both the national and statewide levels is an important responsibility of any person in an administrative position. Which offices within VDOE, or others, are you in most contact with in your day and day activities? If you're not in administration yet, which offices are your supervisors in most contact with?
Funding Assignment
For the funding assignment, it was relatively easy for me to find a state legislator who was in favor of the VPSA funding. But I had a difficult time finding a federal legislator who was supportive of VPSA funding. I was just wondering if you had the same experience, and, from which states did you find the federal legislators to be from?
Scavenger Hunt
I am from a small district and so the items, and people, from the scavenger hunt assignment were relatively easy for me to find, and I didn't have to go very far. Most of the items and people were in my building. I was just wondering how those of you in bigger districts fared...did you really have to "scavenger" around, and how far did you have to travel to find the items on your list?
ISLLC Standard 6
It is important that we look at landmark court decisions and policies to understand how laws are made and how these laws effect practices within the school system. Sometimes staff has trouble understanding and implementing these practices. How would you, as an administrator, handle this?
